During the office Christmas party celebration, the employees and all the staff were given a chance to avail of the door prizes by picking up a number. The number has a corresponding gift assigned. For my number twenty six I got this brown wall clock. I was very happy because I can have another additional stuff of clock decor for home. I personally deserve to have some hair beauty treatment this holiday season. I had my hair done in a salon yesterday and the stylists did some beauty treatment. I love celebrating Christmas! For me this is the most wonderful time of the year. Well everyone's busy once again and that includes me on the lists of those who have lots of preparation for the coming holidays. The long vacation this week was just a good timing because we were able to do some house fixings. I bought this roof sealant in the hardware last weekend and requested my brother to climb the roof and had it sealed on each of the roof nails on the galvanized iron. Every weekend is my schedule for laundry at home. I see to it that my personal bedding is freshly wash and clean. This white comforter is the one used by my brother. Color white is quite susceptible to dirt so it needs an often laundry after a week of use. Since the comforter cloth is so thick and quilted, I let it soaked in water with powder soap overnight. The had it washed the following day to make sure the blanket is free from stains and dirt. After that I had this comforter be totally dried using an electric washer/drier. Hang under the sun for the whole day and then fold after. I can feel the cleanliness of this white comforter and again ready to use for the bedding.

The country is celebrating today its Independence Day. It was on the year 1898 when the first Philippine flag was raised and its national anthem was played. Many people including government officials, employees and students participate in nationwide parades. This is always declared as non working holiday but since it fall on Sunday it becomes a weekend holiday instead. I hope the celebration will always remind each and every Filipino about the essence of sovereignty and the liberty that our ancestors and heroes had been fighting long time ago. Today is the opening of classes in all levels (college, high school and elementary) and the traffic is back again too. I get stacked in traffic while going to downtown this morning. It is always important to wear good and comfortable shoes in any daily activity and so part of my get up when I report for work is this pair of brown shoes. It is made of quality leather and other materials that are very light and durable to wear most especially in days that need lots of walking. I wear socks before wearing this shoes and very thankful for the great comfort that it gives to my feet. This is very helpful especially that rainy season is coming up. I can pair it with boot cut jeans and casual tops of any color and shades. This would replaced my getting worn out shoes that is slowly deteriorating after years of being in service to my feet.

Family Get Together

Weekend was just fun at home because my relatives arrived and spent time here in the city for a short get together. It was also a schedule of arrival of my cousin from Manila who will be spending her vacation with her parents. It's been a year that we haven't met together. It was a blessing for the family to have time once again for a fellowship and keeping in touch with each other's lives. I enjoyed chatting with the latest updates from them. Also with the good food and some little gift surprises. Hoping that the family will always be blessed with good health, career and more good opportunities to be able to have another chance for another reunion soon.

RAV4 Accident

It was a troubled day for the family last weekend when the RAV4 that my cousin was driving got an accident. They were travelling back home last Sunday afternoon from our get together here in the city. While driving for about an hour from the city proper the pick up ahead of them suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. A full break was immediately applied in the RAV4 which did not reached the bump of the pick up. All of a sudden a rushing public utility van behind did not control and it collided the back part of the RAV4. There were many damages on the vehicle - cracked back lights, broken door and bumper, folded plate etc. It was a terrible moment for everyone on board but thankful though because they were all safe and nothing happened to them. Now the Toyota RAV4 is schedule for repair and the insurance coverage for the damages is on process. I was thinking that driving requires lots of responsibilities and everyone should always drive carefully and safely so that accidents like this can be avoided.

Home Cleaning

I did some general cleaning at home particularly in the kitchen last Sunday afternoon. I was able to really found time in doing some household clean up after many days of scheduling. At first I did not know where to start because almost everything in the kitchen needed some thorough arrangement, wipes etc. The upper part of the sink was first wiped then arranged the necessary items in it. I threw away those unused items to de-cluttered the area. Then the sink and tiles were brushed with detergent, water and chlorine. Kitchen utensils were thoroughly washed. Refrigerator were cleaned up and the cover, clothing and hand wipes were replaced with new ones. Also the windows were cleaned brushed and changed the curtains. My accomplishments for that day was almost ninety percent and I had few more left and hopefully will be finished the next weekend. It was very tiring but I was happy to use the kitchen in clean and orderly set-up.

Village Fiesta

The village where I am presently living is celebrating its patronal fiesta. This is a yearly celebration every second Saturday of the month of May. An early music band wake up the people today and the main streets are decorated with colorful banderitas. I can smell the salivating aroma of grilled tuna and pork from the neighborhood and some are busy roaming around in different blocks to look for free lunch treats. I suppose to have an early afternoon sleep because I am feeling tired from early home errands this morning. The music noise from a program in the plaza is disturbing so I just fix myself and go downtown for some posts update and other personal activities.

Pacquiao - Mosley Fight

It was another victory for the country's boxing hero Manny Pacquiao. He won in a twelve round decision last Saturday night (Sunday here in the Philippines) retaining his welter weight title. I watched the fight in television and I was thinking that it was a knocked out already in the third round because Mosley was down. For me it was not Pacquiao's best boxing performance but still he brought another pride for the country once again.Congratulations!

Orchid in bloom

My dancing lady orchid surprised me one morning with its beautiful flowers. I planted the orchid in a pruned trunk of a mango tree and those leaves aid as a shield from direct sunlight The orchid would not live long when exposed in the sun. I am happy that it was in the flowering mood again. This orchid just made my day bright and happy as well.

The rain starts to fall early this morning and the thunderstorms wake me up at dawn. I thought it will stop in the day but the rain still continues to fall until seven o'clock. I decide to go anyway because I still have to report for work. It take me a while to ride going downtown because most of the jeepneys are occupied of passengers. There are many stranded commuters on the streets and most of the highways are in flood waters. I arrive in the office at ten o'clock already and the rain just stops before noon time.

I had fun taking this shot of the bushes at home. It was noon time of Saturday and the sun shone bright on these varieties of shrubs. They grow with multiple stems and that regular maintenance of cleaning and pruning are often needed. Bushes are naturally beneficial as they aid to the freshness of the environment at home. I hope the weather will be balance with rain and the sun for the healthy growth of these shrubs.

The world is witnessing today the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. It is advance here by twenty (20) hours and so I watch the live telecast of the ceremony on television by 6:00 in the evening. The media here are feasting getting exclusivity of coverage for the wedding. There are even anchors sent to make live feed straight from London few days before the wedding day. I am also one of those excited television viewer for this once in a lifetime royal event. Prince William and Kate are beautiful and lovely couple made match for each other. May your marriage be sealed with love, peace and happiness. A modern fairy tale wedding that inspires the many including me.Congratulations and best wishes!

Corrupted Memory Card

I got problems on my memory card yesterday when all my pictures can no longer be downloaded on the computer. My brother checked it and a virus corrupted all my photo files. I was quite worried because there were important files in it that I have not yet downloaded. I think the option is to reformat the card to make it usable again.

The non working holidays were very productive for me. I was able to spent time at home cleaning and arranging my personal stuffs. Also my laundry that waited for couple of days was finally done. Thanks for the help of this spin dryer machine that saved my time from drying thick and heavy clothes like towels, comforters, blankets, pillow cases, bedsheets etc.It easily removes moisture from loads of clothing after being hand washed. I consider this as one important appliance at home.

I had all my time last Saturday so I visited the nearby mall to checked out the total accumulated points of my shoppers' card. My last claim was last year and since then I already earned some points until this month. I was requested to present my card to the credit section located in the fourth floor. The customer service was courteous to attend to my requests and she gave to me two gift certificates that were only valid in the dry goods section. I immediately shop for some affordable yet usable items. I got a boxer for my brother and some undies for me. Some personal stuffs that were worthy courtesy of my shoppers card.

The summer season is here again. I can already feel the warm temperature outside especially during day time from 8:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon. For the past three days there were weather changes as heavy rainfalls occurred in the late afternoon until evening. Some main streets here in the city were flooded and many commuters were stranded. This maybe the result of climate change as the weather bureau announced on the news that the people will expect more rains these summer months.

I am very busy for the past weeks because I started the renovation at home. The project is quite meticulous because there are lots of things that need improvements like the installation and repairs bathrooms, bedrooms, family rooms, garage, utility rooms and the kitchen area. The first area that I personally focus for repair now is the floor in the living room. My friend suggested that it would be good to Laminate Floor for durability and protection. I am thankful for her because it really is important especially that the floor is one of the basic foundation of a house. The area will hopefully be finished this week and I am happy that I got some skilled and excellent workforce to do the special job. The overall home improvement will take some more months to finished but hopefully will end up very well constructed.

I watched last night the search for this year's Binibining Pilipinas and the winner for the Universe title is Miss Shamcey SupSup. A beauty and brain lady who stand out among other contestants. I quoted her on the question and answer and she was asked with this question; What worthy cause do you identify yourself with and why?"Her answer was: "I think the one worthy cause I can identify myself with is valuing education. Because I believe education is something that cannot be taken away from you. You can have money, you can have fame, but in the end, it can be taken from you. But education will always be there to help you.". I hope she will make the country proud again as she will be the country's representative to the Miss Universe beauty pageant this year. New Php 20 note

This is latest Php 20 note released by the BSP signed by the new President Benigno Aquino Jr. I got this as a change when I bought some items in the grocery last weekend. I like its modern design and color. The note is not yet circulated in the public but eventually it will replace the old twenty pesos. I hope to get some more new notes for 50, 100, 500, 1000 and include them in my posts here.

Income Tax 2010

I already made my income tax and had it filed before the deadline on April 15 next month. My tax last year includes some creditable taxes withheld from sources from March up to June. I do not know exactly the percentage of the amount being deducted but the refundable for me will be very valuable. I am looking forward for some refunds on the years 2009 and 2010.

Orange Highlighter

A very useful item that I have with me is this highlighter pen. I often use this to highlight sections of documents by marking them with vivid, translucent color. I like orange this time and I often use it on my subject studies and Bible reading as well. By using this pen, I can immediately identify some important words or statements that are relevant on the topics that I am reading. I would like to add more highlighters in colors of green, pink, yellow and blue on my personal collection.

Burma Earthquake

The country of Burma was not spared from the cruelty of nature as a magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit the northeastern region. The tremors happened and damaged some areas near the Thai border. I saw on the news some destroyed houses, buildings and trees. Also some big cracks on highways as seen on the picture above. This is another devastation secondary to what happened on Japan weeks ago.

I was spending some time in the mall last Saturday afternoon. In the second floor where mobile phone accessories were being displayed, I saw this red strawberry design cell phone charm. The string is not so long and it really fits to my mobile phone. I immediately bought the item and had it replaced my old phone cord. The strapped can be easily attached to a loophole. This is my way of personalizing my phone at this time. There are many designs available in the market today and you can have as many charms to choose from ordinary cheap to expensive ones.

Monday Offline

The start of this week is very favorable for me. I feel relax in the office as the system is offline for the whole day. My work is dependent with the integrated system and since there is no connection, all the receiving documents have to wait for tomorrow. Today is declared as local non working holiday as the city celebrates its 74th Araw ng Davao for the year 2011. It is raining while I am on my way going to the downtown district today. The celebration actually started last Monday and some highlighted activities were concert at the park, street dancing and Mutya ng Davao coronation night. The people join this morning for a thanksgiving mass followed by street parade attended by various sectors from the private, government, social-civic and business groups. I hope everyone enjoy the celebration in spite of the weather. Madayaw Davao City!

My friend gave me the other day this correction tape. I find it as a good alternative for correction fluid because I can easily mark it on errors without hassles. This is often used in correcting typing or printing errors and also on some important personal and office documents. The tape is almost used up and I think I have to buy one tomorrow. An 8.9 magnitude earthquake that rocked Japan followed by tsunami were the most devastating events that happened this week. The world is in grief with what happened to the Japanese people. I saw the live news on television yesterday and I cannot imagine what was happening on the coastal areas as properties like cars, buildings, houses, bridges etc.were swept away by strong waters. The Philippines was also alarmed of what happened to Japan because the country belongs to the Pacific Ring of Fire where at any time earthquake and tsunami could happen. This disaster could help us in our awareness and preparation because we are not spared from the dangers brought about by the wrath of nature.

I spent time last weekend on the ladies accessories section of the nearby mall. I bought this simple hair pony tie to use on my hair. I do not like too much embellishments on my hair accessories and I just wanted simple ties that I can have for daily wear. It is a social etiquette that you have to tie your hair when you are commuting and sitting with other passengers especially on jeepneys and buses. For me a pony tail is a fashion hairdo that is always acceptable whether in formal or informal occasions.

I was happy to received this gladiator sandals as a belated gift of my cousin. This was supposed to be given by her last holidays. I had no idea what happened but anyway it is better late than never. The ankle-high design is just as comfortable and chic to wear. Very trendy with dress, pants or shorts. I was very careful when I first used this tricky shoes or else I would create a mess in my fashion. Dark pants rolled up a little to show the sandals then a casual printed top.
